I am a Chameleon

January 31, 2017by Beth Mabe Gianopulos Category: Devotion
Still, God, you are our Father. We’re the clay and you’re our potter: All of us are what you made us. Isaiah 64:8 (MSG) Chameleons are magnificent creatures. When a chameleon senses danger, a chameleon can change its skin color to blend in with its surroundings. For example, when a chameleon is surrounded by green leaves, it turns a green color that perfectly blends with the surroundings. This camouflage is necessary to protect them and keep them safe. For years, I was a chameleon. In my heart, I sensed a constant danger – I feared that if anyone knew the real me, the me that no one else knew, they would not love me. I feared that people only loved me for who I was to them at the time - my friends loved me for my laughter and outgoing personality, my teachers loved me for my discipline and intellectual curiosity, my family loved me because I was eager to please and compliant. For me, the greatest danger I faced was the danger of…

Joy In The Journey

January 18, 2017by Beth Mabe Gianopulos Category: Devotion “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) Over the past few weeks, I’ve interviewed candidates for an open position at work. You Are The Equipment

January 3, 2017by Beth Mabe Gianopulos Category: Devotion “Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers. And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here.
Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.
Don’t think you have to put on a fundraising campaign before you start. You don’t need a lot of equipment. You are the equipment, and all you need to keep that going is three meals a day. Travel light.” Matthew 10:5-10 (MSG) Many people have a deep desire to live a life that is a light in the darkness. They want to be caught up in a movement that matters. But wanting to lead a life of passion is different from actually living a life of passion. Many people are unable to experience a zest for life because they haven’t taken the time to examine themselves and find the…
