What Can I Give?November 28, 2016by Beth Mabe Gianopulos
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 NIV Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39 NIV Sometimes I wonder what gifts I have to offer God. When I hear a singer with a beautiful voice, or read the works of a writer that writes powerful books, I feel like I am not enough. As Christmas approaches, I have wondered, what gifts do I have to offer the Savior of the world? As I have prayed and thought about this, I feel like God has been whispering, Your presence is the best present. Giving Thanks That Leaves Room For God By Beth Mabe Gianopulos Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Advent Challenge 2016

As we approach the first day of Advent, I would like to invite you to join our group, Advent Challenge 2016. https://www.facebook.com/groups/AdventChallenge2016/
Each day, Jenny or I will post the scripture for the day along with a challenge. The challenges will be simple and inspired by the scripture that we are reading and reflecting on that day. Group members can share their reflections and experiences. If you are interested, please ask to join the group. Once you are a member, you can invite other members to the group. It is our hope that by reading, reflecting, praying and doing, we will each experience Advent and Christmas in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Thanks for the Cake

Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 5:20 NIV For as long as I can remember, I have said a blessing before a meal.  Needless to say, I’ve said “thank you” for a meal more times than I can count. Given all the thanks that I have given for my food, you’d think that I was really thankful.  I thought that I had a truly thankful heart.  Then I went to Uganda. While I was in Uganda, a team member was having a birthday.  The school that we were visiting was so hospitable and excited that they insisted on celebrating.  They had purchased three cakes, and they planned to have the children sing to my friend. Sounds typical, right? Except this birthday celebration was anything but typical.  Almost 1000 kids attended the school, and most of them had no shoes, no paper, no pencils, no books, and no food.  Many of these children were literally starving. When our hosts brought out the birthday cakes, large brown eyes stared in wonder.…
